Our Style and Philosophy

We founded Merus Capital in 2007 to support the next generation of software and Internet entrepreneurs. We partner with founders who have the passion and ability to build lasting, world-class businesses. We don’t aim to fund “quick flip” startups and only invest in areas where we have extensive experience and where we believe Merus can be a trusted, valued partner to founding teams. We believe that solving real problems is of value irrespective of fad or trend and that solving such problems in a scalable manner will lead to the creation of valuable businesses. In our evaluation of investment opportunities, we emphasize integrity, principal-to-principal interaction, and rigorous, fact-based analysis.

We believe in a team-approach to investing and have organized ourselves to best serve our portfolio companies. We are each equal partners in the firm and whether we are making an initial investment decision, completing due diligence or providing support to our portfolio companies, founders have direct access to our collective experience, effort and network.

Our Stage and Investment Size

Merus is an early-stage venture capital firm with a typical initial investment size ranging from $500,000 to $2,500,000. We are often a company’s first institutional investor and believe in a collaborative approach to business-building. We expect to be active investors and portfolio company supporters.
